A Little Piece of Heaven

So I get up Saturday morning, and decided I wanted to check out a fishing spot I've been wanting to see in person for sometime. Really didn't want to drive my Durango (16mpg) 70 Miles one way so I decided to make it a family trip. So with a little begging I was able to get the Wife and one of my girls to come along. We had a great time on the Eastern Shore, and we all left happy.. I saw my new fishing spot, and she went shopping so everyone got what they wanted..

Check out these Pix..

Now this is the money shot..... Check out that water, and how things drop off close to shore... I think this spot will be good in the Spring and Fall, it might not be the best in the summer unless you fish it at Night... :)

Sandy Point State Park

Arrived at SPSP at 6pm after getting half way to Point Lookout and deciding to turn around after my truck started acting funny.  Set up at the point and put out three rods... The bait of choice was bloodworms, but tried shrimp and peeler crab.  It seemed like distance was the key, not a great trip but a decent one...

Something New Something OLD

I took my Aero Technium XT10000 (old school) out and wanted to change the look of it.  I ended up Buying a Shimano Aero Technium Baitrunner drag knob from Shimano UK, and two 10000 spools from I think the Shimano Super Ultegra...

The colors matched and Im very pleased witht he outcome..  Took a Distance Spinning Legend and made it current....

After watching a set up of mine skating down the beach I decided that  when I use spinners on the surf I perfer Baitrunner drags or Instant drags.
Cant wait to use it...

Little slice of heaven!

A buddy of mine put me on a little known location that he's been fishing for the last couple of years... I finally had a chance to check it out and BOY was I surprised...  I got there at 8am and left at 2:30pm , and had steady action from the time I put my first rig out there...  The total was 13 Croakers (2 where 15inches), 1 Catfish, 1 WP, 1 Ray and 2 toad fish...  This place is differently getting a starting position in my rotation...

The bait of the day was PEELER CRAB that and distance made the difference.. 5 guys fishing with around me and out of the 5 one guy caught a croaker..

Poor Bastard...

This Guy was on the beach when I got there, and from the look of things the birds (or crabs) got his eyes...

Conventional's Oiled and Ready

I had several guys on the beach, and online ask me the same question... WHERE ARE YOUR CONVENTIONAL REELS?  The answer was always the same.. I don't feel like breaking them down and cleaning them, putting new line on them, etc.... well I had some time on my hands and got most of them ready for fishing..   Now my babies are ready...

BLACK MAMBA: In Action for the first time..

I finally got a chance to spend some time on the water with the Black Mamba, and so far so GOOD!  I arrived at SPSP at 12:30pm, and had my three lines in the water by 1pm.  2 of the rods were my SUR1508's with Shimano Power Aero XT 10000s, and the 3rd rod was the BLACK Mamba.  The Fishing didn't get good until 5pm, and by the time I left @ 7pm I hooked up with around 8 Rockfish with the largest being in the high 20's.  All but the biggest was caught on the BLACK MAMBA, and handled them with ease.  I wish the largest one would have hooked up on the BLACK MAMBA, but it didn't maybe next time.  I can't say im surpised by the way the rod performed, but would like to catch some fish in the 28plus range before I can be sure that it can handle the "Keeper" size ROCKS...  Time will be the judge..  So far so GREAT..  :)
